Last updated: 16 September 2026
Who we are
Sim Racing Effects is a trading name of MDV AQUILUS LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 17083753). Our registered office is 9 Redhill Close, Warwick, CV35 9SP, United Kingdom.
We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email us at info@simracingeffects.com.
The information we collect
- When you contact us: your name, email address and anything you include in your message, whether you use the contact form on this website, email us directly or message us through eBay.
- When you buy from us: if you buy through our eBay shop, eBay shares the details we need to complete your order, such as your name, delivery address and what you ordered. Payment is handled by eBay, and we never see your card details.
- When you visit this website: our hosting provider’s servers automatically record technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site secure and working, including recording failed attempts to log in to the site’s admin area.
- Cookies: see the cookies section below.
How we use your information
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your information. We use it:
- To reply to your enquiry and keep a record of our conversation. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- To complete and deliver your order, and to handle returns and after-sales support. Our lawful basis is that this is necessary for our contract with you.
- To keep accounting and tax records. Our lawful basis is that the law requires us to.
- To keep this website secure and working. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing emails without your consent. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers who help us run the business, and only as much as they need:
- our website hosting provider, which stores this website, messages sent through the contact form and server logs
- Google, which provides our business email
- eBay, for orders placed through our eBay shop
- delivery companies, so they can deliver your order
- professional advisers, such as an accountant, where needed
We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with HM Revenue & Customs.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of our service providers are based outside the UK or store information outside it. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: up to 2 years after our last contact with you, unless the enquiry becomes part of an order.
- Order records: 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, because tax law requires it.
- Server logs: for the limited period set by our hosting provider.
When we no longer need your information, we delete it securely.
Cookies
Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. This website only uses cookies it needs to work: one that remembers your cookie choices, and cookies used when site administrators log in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent through the cookie banner first.
You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie settings icon at the bottom of the page, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How we protect it
We use sensible technical and organisational measures to protect your information. These include a secure (HTTPS) connection to this website, protection on the website’s login page, and keeping our software up to date.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to limit how we use your information

- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere, where this applies
To use any of these rights, email info@simracingeffects.com. We will reply within one month, and you will not usually need to pay a fee.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
